- Tenders are invited for Establishment of Two Demonstration farms of Agricultural practices and technologies In Afgooye District, lower Shabelle region - Somalia Requirement for the Demo Establishments: 1. Land preparation Ploughing Harrowing: qty 5 Leveling: qty 5 Ridging;' qty 5 2 Planting Seeds: Cereal seeds (Maize & Cowpea), vegetable seeds (Tomato, carrot, Onion, Spinach, sweet paper) Sowing of seeds & Sowing labor 10 people for 10 days 3 Fertilizer Urea Lump sum Dap 4 Irrigation Canals 5 Weed control 6 Disease and insect control Chemicals 7 Harvest 8 Threshing 9 Drying 10 Packaging 11 Farm keeper Tools for the demo plots: 1 Hoe: qty 10 2 Kawawo: qty 10 3 Spade: qty 10 4 Fork: qty 10 5 Shovel: qty 10 6 Rake: qty 10 7 Gloves: qty 20 8 Wheelbarrow The demo plots will be used for practical teaching farmers and conducting agricultural demonstrations, field days and trainings, and the DEMOs will be used for; 3000 farmer HHs (6000 individuals/indirect beneficiaries) 1. Training 200 farmers on improved farming technologies 2. 50 agro-farmers on post-harvest management 3. 40 farmers on fodder production and sales 4. Conduct crop and vegetable value chain study 5. Train of farmers on solar irrigation farming 6. Conduct Vulnerability and capacity assessment 7. Quarterly production of the climate change detection mapping and dissemination of early warning messages to farmers/beneficiaries.
