- Request for proposals are invited for Creation of a Business Plan on the Promotion and Marketing of Puntland Processed Dates under the 3 Dates Processing Units (DPU) The specific objectives of the consultancy include the development of the Business Plan for the DPUs management and the promotion of the market of processed dates for the DPUs providing guidance on the operations of the system/structure. Specifically, The Business Plan on the processing and promotion of dates, will: • Provide an assessment and analysis of the present scenario on DPUs capacities for dates handling • Define the DPUs capacity in terms of capacity building activities and other technical assistance • Define the DPUs organizational management structure and skill sets available and identify any skill gaps • Define the running cost of the DPUs, broken down to the cost per services provided, including services like trainings and technical assistant • Define the comparative advantage of the DPUs to attract customers from the region. • Define and map the market with potential customers • Describe the business model, operation and marketing strategies, including branding, communication and visibility of the final product • Work out the appropriate costing, including a portion for core funding, for each service provided • Project a realistic income from marketing the services over the next three years • Project the time to reach the break-even status from the present funding and donor support (funds) required till then • Provide organizational management structural modification and new skill set (if required) to meet the requirements of the business plan • Provide an assessment on the scalability of DPUs and solar dryers for the strengthening of dates palm value chain at the regional and Governorate (Puntland) levels. This includes a feasibility study and market assessment on the following two areas: (i) new opportunities on expansion of date palm post production and value chain; (ii) research of new opportunities of linkages with private sector to extend the dates marketing sector • Design a programme/manual on business management and market-oriented training/workshops to strengthen farmers- and stakeholders- date palm agricultural knowledge and enhance sustainable production and post-production practices
